Bhavya Sabbineni is an undergraduate student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of British Columbia. She completed co-op and is currently conducting Directed Studies under the supervision of Dr. Jim Johnson and Dr. Jamie Chu. Her research focuses on investigating beta cell heterogeneity with an emphasis on characterizing distinct beta cell states based on INS gene activity in primary human islets. Additionally, she is analyzing the proteomic profile of purified late-stage stem cell-derived beta cells with the goal of identifying key molecular markers and pathways regulating INS gene activity and beta cell function
