About Event

Dr. Jeremy Nance is currently the Associate Chair for Education and Training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research centers around dissecting how cell organization, including interactions and movements, direct embryonic development and organogenesis. Using C. elegans as their model system, the Nance Lab explores how cells sense their neighbours, move into the correct place, and develop into complex structures. Their work has revealed surprising processes, including the concept of cellular cannibalism, where developing germ cells discard potentially damaged material to preserve their genomic integrity. By combining genetics and live-cell imaging, the Nance lab provides insights into tissue and organ development during embryogenesis.
