Dr. Christopher Overall receives 2022 John McNeill Excellence in Health Research Mentorship Award

Dr. Christopher Overall has been awarded the 2022 John McNeill Excellence in Health Research Mentorship Award, recognizing outstanding mentorship and “a deep commitment to fostering the professional and personal development of faculty colleagues, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows in the early stages of their academic careers”.

Presented by UBC Health, the award, valued at $10,000 was established by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in honour of Dean Emeritus John McNeill.

Dr. Overall is a Professor in the Dept. of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, and member of the Centre for Blood Research and Life Sciences Institute. He is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair Emeritus (2000-2022) in Protease Proteomics and Systems Biology, and Fellow in the Royal Society of Canada. In addition to his world-renowned research program, Dr. Overall has established a diverse, multidisciplinary, and supportive training environment and mentored numerous junior faculty members, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students.

All recipients of the 2022 UBC Health Awards and Scholarships will be honoured at a ceremony in March.
