Three LSI trainees win 2021 BC Diabetes Research Network Awards

November 17, 2021

On Research Day November 16, the BC Diabetes Network  recognized three LSI trainees with distinction.

Congratulations to all the recipients!

 

 

Dr. Howard Cen, a postdoctoral fellow in Cellular and Physiological Sciences (Johnson lab)
Received a best poster presentation award for his talk entitled “Insulin-dependent and -independent dynamics of insulin receptor trafficking in muscle cells.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

People’s Choice Awards 

Priye Iworima, PhD Candidate  in the School of Biomedical Engineering (Kieffer lab)
Won an award for her oral presentation in the Islet Biology and Cell Therapy category, entitled “The effects of the initial seeding concentration and diameter of pluripotent stem cell aggregates on the generation of pancreatic progenitors”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Jelena Kolic, postdoctoral fellow in Cellular and Physiological Sciences (Johnson lab)
Won an award for her poster presentation in the Nutrition and Metabolism, Prevention and Complications of Diabetes category, entitled “Heterogeneity in macronutrient-stimulated insulin release from human islets.”
