Why does the same pathogen produce widely different responses in different people? An interview with Ninan Abraham

April 15, 2020

The LSI’s Ninan Abraham, an expert on immunity to respiratory tract pathogens, is featured as the early April guest on the Ways of Knowing podcast.

Ways of Knowing is produced by UBC’s Wall Centre and its Interim Director, Kalina Christoff (UBC Psychology). The show explores how scholars and artists think about their areas of expertise and beyond.

From their respective homes Drs. Abraham and Christoff discussed how it’s possible for the same pathogen to produce vastly different responses in different individuals. Dr. Abraham, a professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology and the Department of Zoology, is a member of LSI’s Infection, Inflammation and Immunity Research Group. He is an expert on immunity to respiratory tract pathogens such as Influenza A, and is turning his research efforts towards SARS CoV-2.

Listen to episode six, featuring Dr. Abraham
