John R. Evans Leaders Fund Recipients Announced at LSI

At the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) on Friday, April 15, 2016, The Honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan, Minister of National Defence, on behalf of the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, announced the B.C. recipients of the  latest round of the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) competition. The B.C. portion of the funding is approximately $1.55 million.

The event included a speech by UBC Professor & LSI Principal Investigator Janel Kopp, one of the recipients of the funds. Other VIPs present included Dr. Martha Piper, Interim President and Vice Chancellor, UBC, Dr. John Hepburn, VP, Research and International, UBC (event Emcee), Dr. Rob McMaster, Interim Executive Associate Dean, Research, UBC Faculty, Dr. Pieter Cullis, Director, Life Sciences Institute, UBC and Doug Kinsey, Executive Director, Strategic Policy Sector – Pacific Region.

After the announcement, the Minister and other VIPs toured the labs of Prof. Kopp and another recipient of the funding, UBC Professor & LSI Principal Investigator Elizabeth Rideout.
